NotesBefore being bound (1931) the manuscript was contained in a brown Paper wrapper, inscribed "H. & S. MS 224." Cat. p. 708 states scribe and location are unknown. Parts (i) and (ii) seem to be by the same hand. There is a rubricated heading in part ii at f.5r.1. A very fragmentary version of the aphorisms of Hippocrates is contained in part iii, the translation of aphorism 18 is based on a different Latin version of Hippocrates cf. RIA MS 23K 42; 447, P 45.

DescriptionRIA MS 23 H 19, is a Gaelic manuscript possibly from the 15th century. Location and scribe are unknown. Written on vellum it consists of three fragments dealing with medical matters: (i) a fragmentary version of a tract ascribed to Johannes Ibn Mesue, a more complete copy of which is found in TCD MS 1314 (H. 2.12, no. 16); (ii) fragment of a tract based apparently on a work by Galen; (iii) a fragment of a version of the Aphorisms of Hippocrates. Of these (i) has 50 lines to page, (ii) has 60, (iii) has 36.
